  Music Review - Kalyug
Author: Dr.Mandar

Kalyug

Anu Malik

Vanilla Music

Music albums of Bhatt- films like Paap and Zeher have definitely set the trend of Pakistani singers singing some stellar numbers like Mann Ki Lagan (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan) and Woh Lamhen (Aatif). Kalyug just carries forward that trend and here, again the two best numbers of the album are sung by the same two Pakistani singers.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan comes up with a superbly melodious and extremely romantic Jiya Dhadak Dhadak Jaaye- a tune in classical mould set up by Rohail Hyat and Faisal Rafi. Aatif’s Aadat – a moody melancholic number composed by Gohar Mumtaz of Jal- is another high point and one immediately picks how the same tune was blatantly copied for the Chocolate- song Zahreeli Raaten. DJ Suketu dishes out a remixed version of Aadat later in the album.

Indian Idol runner-up Amita Sana’s romantic duet with Anuradha Paudwal in Thii Meri Dastan, Alisha’s trademark husky sensuous number – Dheere Dheere and Nazam Sheraz’s upbeat Yeh Pal are the other songs in this album.
