Tu Hi Mere Rab Ki Tarah Hai

Mithoon

Drawing inspiration from his rich musical lineage, composer-singer Mithoon Sharma burst onto Bollywood scene in 2006. His music in Anwar, Train, Bas Ek Pal and Aggar was hailed for its refreshingly melodious yet coolly contemporary approach. Carrying the same theme forwards, now he comes up with his non-film private album and it is certainly worth its value.

Mithoon’s voice sounds a lot like Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, with whom he has frequently collaborated in the past. It is an edgy melancholic voice, capable of hitting high notes with ease. Syeed Qadri (another regular Mithoon- team- member!) has written the lyrics steeped in Sufi spiritualism. Most of the numbers like ‘Tu Hi Mere Rab Ki Tarah Hai’, ‘Har Jagah Mein’, ‘Tu Hai’ and ‘Kuchh Dard’ are also infused with this Sufi-style and they can be generally classified as soulful sentimental ballads. Synthesizer-based musical arrangements nicely lend the modern touch and help build up the moody atmosphere.

For the lovers of club-culture, there is an upbeat dance-track ‘Ashiqi Ashiqi’ and some steamy remixes of the slower numbers. Guest singers Megha (in ‘Tu Hi Mere Rab Ki Tarah’) and Shreyas Tare (in ‘Tu Hai’) impress with their distinctive expressive voices.
