Director: Mohit Suri
Cast: Arjun Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor

Up till now, movies based on Chetan Bhagat’s novels had done well at the box-office. Remember Three Idiots (based on ‘Five Point Someone’), Kaipo Che (based on ‘Three Mistakes’) and Two States (based on the same named novel)? Now Bhagat’s novel Half Girl Friend gets a same named movie make-over.

Directed by Mohit Suri, this film tells a story of a Bihari boy (Arjun Kapoor) falling for a Delhi girl (Shraddha Kapoor) in college. The guy is of royal lineage but from a humble background whereas, the lass is a heiress of a business tycoon. He speaks Hindi, she is comfy in English. He wants her forever, she is commitment-phobic. The on- off romance and the subsequent cross-country pursuit of love forms the crux of the story, with various parental influences and career choices playing their parts in keeping the star-crossed lovers apart. To make it more interesting, you also get to see Bill Gates (A look-alike of course!) coming to Bihar to offer the boy an internship!

It is a weak story and the director and the lead pair simply don’t have it in them to rise above that mediocre script. So it turns out to be an unremarkable, unexciting film not worth watching in theatre. It is not a terrible watch either so if you want, you could catch it up at leisure when it arrives on television!
