M4 Principle. Masala movies make money!’

That has been the formula since decades and that will continue to be the formula for decades.

In a movie like this it is usually futile to discuss the plot, which tests your sanity at every step but still I will give you the gist.

A Mumbai-based small-time thief (Akshay Kumar) and his crony get the surprise of their lives, when the box they have flicked contains not some valuables but a small girl, who embraces the thief, calling him her dad! The surprises continue when strange well-wishers and stranger blood-thirsty foes keep stalking the thief everywhere. Then it emerges that the thief is actually a look-alike of an upright cop, who has rubbed a bad man and his gang of crooks the wrong way in some remote hinterland town. How will this confusion, which has ruined the thief’s blooming love-life, finally end?

Lookalike heroes, heartless villains, non-stop action, coarse comedy, light-hearted romance, hammy melodrama, catchy item numbers, outrageous coincidences and loud-mouthed ‘dialogues’ (Don’t angry me!) …. director Prabhu Deva doesn’t leave any trick in the book untried and once again (after Wanted) he hits the box-office jackpot.

Akshay enjoys himself thoroughly in both his avatars and Sonakshi plays the perfect romantic foil. Their chemistry and the movie’s overall ‘Don’t take me too seriously- just enjoy the ride’- approach works if you are okay with such capers. If you are not, then strictly avoid it like plague. But believe it or not, you will be in minority. The masses have lapped it up. The movie has already been declared as a superhit and Akshay’s golden run in 2012 continues!
